Eastern Europe boasts a variety of cities, each with something unique to offer. With reasonable prices, plenty of activities, and a wealth of history, why not consider one of these locations for your next trip to Europe? 

 

Ljubljana

Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, is a mouthful, but it shouldn’t be missed. The city is lively, green, and very traveler-friendly. Traffic is restricted in the city center, which makes it easy to walk around and take in the sights of castles, ornate bridges, and the cobblestone streets. Ljublijana is a university town so it has a youthful and energized atmosphere, as well as budget-friendly prices. Between the outdoor cafes and expansive collection of museums, you’ll find plenty of activities to fill your time. 

Budapest

Budapest, Hungary is known as the Pearl of the Danube, and for good reason. Budapest is a cultural hotspot and features museums, churches, and historic monuments aplenty. The city is actually two cities connected by a bridge across the Danube River. Whether you are looking to visit one of the city’s relaxing bathhouses or prefer an intense walking tour, Budapest is sure to have something for you. Make sure you don’t miss the affordable-yet-delicious food and wine scene. 

 

Bratislava

Bratislava, Slovakia is another gem of Eastern Europe. The city’s Old Town has plenty to see and do and offers some of Europe’s best modern art galleries. One of the most popular places to visit is the Blue Church, a dazzling art nouveau church in shades of blue. Another fun activity is to visit the historic outdoor markets. There you can find a variety of local produce, clothing, and flowers. 

 

Dubrovnik 

Dubrovnik, Croatia is far from a hidden a gem. The destination is quite popular during the summer, especially tourists from cruise ships. Although busy, if you time your visit right, the crowds won’t detract from your experience. The Adriatic Sea is bright blue and brilliantly clear. You can climb the town’s medieval walls for some incredible views. If you’re looking for something more active, you can hike Mt. Srd to see Dubrovnik’s Old Town from above. 

 

Tallinn

Estonia’s capital may be most famous for its Christmas Market, but the city has so much more to offer! The cobblestone streets and medieval walls will make you feel like you’re walking through a fairy tale. Though the city is small, it has plenty to offer as far as restaurants, shopping, and nightlife.
